Things I've built and launched.
Forslow
I built Forslow to solve my own mindless scrolling habit. After it worked for me, I extended it into a full Android app for anyone wanting mindful screen time. It introduces a short breathing pause before opening distracting apps, running 100% locally and offline on your device with no accounts, no ads, and complete on-device privacy.
Engineering Deep Dives
Things I learn by building, breaking, and figuring out in practice.
How 2FA Works in Airplane Mode Without Talking to a Server
Your phone has zero bars, no Wi-Fi, and airplane mode turned on. Yet Google Authenticator generates a valid 6-digit code every 30 seconds that websites accept instantly. The app never communicates with the server: both devices run identical HMAC-SHA1 math in parallel against the exact same synchronized Unix clock.
What Nobody Tells You About Building Production RAG
Tutorials make RAG look easy with 30 lines of toy code, but real production documents are messy. Between inconsistent tables, embedded diagrams, and silent SQLite failures in vector stores, parsing multi-page PDFs is a battle. Real AI engineering is 90% data plumbing and 10% LLM calls.
How I Got a Capable AI Coding Partner Running Locally on 16GB RAM
You do not need a high-end GPU or cloud credits to run capable reasoning models anymore. A full-precision 19 GB model is overkill: 4-bit GGUF quantization compresses Qwen 3.5 down to 6.6 GB with zero noticeable quality loss. With Ollama, it runs smoothly offline right on consumer CPU and 16 GB RAM.
